Tyrone DuBose Makes History: First R&B Historian in History to Be Inducted Into Two Different Walk/Hall of Fames

CINCINNATI, OH — July 26 — Tyrone DuBose was inducted into the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame during a ceremony organizers described as a historic moment for Black music recognition and preservation.

DuBose’s induction marks a first: he is the first R&B historian in history to be honored in two different Walks and Halls of Fame, having previously been inducted into the California Music Hall of Fame in 2024. This achievement highlights the importance of documenting the legacy and cultural impact of R&B and the people behind it.

Alicia Reece, founder of the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame, said DuBose’s work goes beyond education—it helps preserve the truth of the culture.”
“Tyrone doesn’t just talk about music—he helps preserve the legacy so it can be understood, appreciated, and passed on,” Reece said.

During the ceremony, DuBose expressed deep gratitude for the recognition and emphasized what the honor represents for future generations of music historians and fans.

“Being inducted into the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame is an honor I don’t take lightly,” DuBose said. “Being the first R&B historian in history to be inducted into two different Walks and Halls of Fame is more than an award—it’s confirmation that this work matters and that the culture deserves to be remembered with respect and accuracy.”

The Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame honors individuals from the city and state who have made significant contributions to Black music history and culture.
